Giants Injury Update: Brandon Belt not ready for baseball activities

By on 8/31/2014 07:15:00 AM

San Francisco Giants first baseman Brandon Belt has not played since August 6th and is not currently rehabbing from his concussion, but he is confident that he will play again this season. John Shea is reporting that Belt will see a doctor again on September 8th and is sure that he will be able to get back on the field again.
As a prospect Belt was considered to be a big slugger, and over the past season and a half he has begun to showcase this power. Last season, Belt hit 17 homers and this season in just 51 games he has already hit 11.

While his .237 average is down from career numbers, he has battled injuries which have not allowed him to be in the lineup consistently.

Down the stretch if Belt is cleared he could be an X-factor. The Giants have not been known for power in recent years, but his bat could help bring thump back to the lineup in the final month.  In a tight race for both the division and the wildcard, Belt can be a huge difference maker.
