Giants Injury Update: Brandon Belt to see doctor after sickness, headaches

By on 8/08/2014 11:15:00 AM

The San Francisco Giants fell to the Milwaukee Brewers last night by the score of 3-1. The loss dropped the Giants to 62-53, three and a half games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West. In order for the Giants to contend with the Dodgers, they will need more out of the offense which is only 19th in the Major Leagues in runs scored. One player who may help is Brandon Belt, who was out yesterday as a precaution due to headaches and sickness the previous night.

As reported Henry Schulman of SFGate, manager Bruce Bochy indicated that Belt was removed from Wednesday's game with headaches. Belt has a recent concussion and the Giants had the Brewers' team doctor examine Belt. The doctor didn't think the headaches were related to the concussion. As a precautionary measure, Giants head athletic trainer Dave Groeschner suggested that Belt get the day off.

Schulman also tweeted the following update on Belt.
Although Belt is feeling better, this is something worth keeping an eye on since there is no indication of yet as to why Belt was feeling sick and had headaches.

Belt is batting .237 with 11 home runs and 24 RBI in 186 at bats this season. Last season, he had a .289 batting average with 17 home runs and 67 RBI. In 409 career games, Belt has a batting average of .268 with 44 home runs and 165 RBI.
