Giants Injury Update: Geoff Schwartz carted off field

By on 8/24/2014 04:30:00 PM

The New York Giants goal this off season was to rebuild the offensive line especially with the signing of free agent Geoff Schwartz, after Friday nights game against the New York Jets in which Schwartz was carted off the field it looks like he will be lost for an extended period of time. Connor Orr first reported the story.

The New York Giants struggled tremendously last season to keep All-Pro quarterback Eli Manning protected, and the team had a lackluster season. With the Addition of new offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo and signing of Geoff Schwartz the Giants were trying to rebuild a weakened offensive line core and offensive system.

Initially the reports on Schwartz claimed he may of possibly sustained a serious lower leg injury, Saturday morning it was reported that Schwartz has a dislocated toe. A toe dislocation is less serious then an injury to the major ligaments of the knee or fracture in the lower leg, but Connor Orr reported on Saturday that Schwartz will see Dr. Robert Anderson this week. Dr. Anderson is a foot specialist in Charlotte, and after they meet we should know more about the severity of the injury. A toe dislocation depending on the toe involved and if there is also an associated fracture will help set a timeline for Schwartz's return to the team, but at the moment it is unknown when he will return.
