Giants Injury Update: Hector Sanchez back to DL with concussion

By on 8/12/2014 10:00:00 AM

The San Francisco Giants enter tonight's game against the Chicago White Sox with a record of 62-56, five games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West. The Giants are struggling offensively, ranked 24th in the Major Leagues in runs scored. Injuries are also a problem, as fie players are currently on the disabled list, one of which is backup catcher Hector Sanchez, who has returned to the seven-day concussion disabled list.

I reported on August 10 that Sanchez,  who is recovering from a concussion suffered when a foul tip hit his mask on July 25, was continuing his rehab at Triple-A Fresno. That was halted when he got hit in the mask with another foul tip and was scheduled to undergo more concussion tests.

Alex Pavlovic, who covers the Giants for Mercury News, Bay Area News Group, tweeted the following update on Sanchez.
In three rehab games at Fresno, Sanchez is 3-for-10 with a home run and three RBI. In 66 games with the Giants this season, Sanchez is batting .196 with three home runs and 28 RBI. He's a career .246 hitter with nine home runs and 82 RBI in 216 games.
