Giants Injury Update: Odell Beckham out for week two against Colts

By on 8/16/2014 02:11:00 PM

Due to a hamstring injury which has kept him out of training camp, New York Giants’ rookie WR Odell Beckham Jr. will not play this week against the Indianapolis Colts.
The news was reported by New York Daily News writer Ralph Vacchiano via twitter.
After being drafted in the first round by the Giants, Beckham has yet to see any real action in the pros.

According to FanSided, “[Beckham] was sidelined with a hamstring injury for the bulk of training camp and only returned to practice on Monday, so he is getting closer to making his NFL debut, but it looks like it will be next week after he gets his legs back underneath him and gets more reps in practice.”

Out of LSU, Beckham was able to catch 141 passes for 2,305 yards and 12 touchdowns through the air (57 catches, 1,117 yards and eight touchdowns during final season), while returning 58 punts for a 9.3 yards per return average and 40 kickoffs for a 25.1 yards per return average.

In a revamped Giants’ offense that features the likes of Rashad Jennings, Victor Cruz and fellow rookie WR Jarvis Landry, Beckham is vital to the success of the Giants’ passing game.
