Giants Injury Update: Odell Beckham close to a return

By on 8/08/2014 02:00:00 PM

New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham is getting close to recovering from his hamstring injury, reports Jordan Raanan from

The rookie wide out has been fighting this since the beginning of training camp, and has yet to make any headway with the transition into the NFL.

Ralph Vacchiano with the New York Daily News twitted out a statement from Beckham saying, "I'm getting there. It's a process… should be soon. I'm definitely getting close." However, Beckham will not play this Saturday against the Pittsburgh Steelers as this will be back to back games now that he will miss this preseason.

When talking about this type of injury you can never be too careful, especially when you are seeing all the pulled hamstrings across the league this year. With Beckham’s rehab lasting more than two week now, his progress in getting back on the field is not what everyone had hoped.

Tom Coughlin spoke of his 12th overall selection in his Wednesday press conference saying, “They have him doing a lot of things, they’re going to push him a little bit more today and then they’re going to get a quarterback to throw to him and see how that goes, too.”

Beckham is going to be looked at by the Giants training staff very closely every day in hopes to give him the green light.
