Giants Injury Update: Angel Pagan removed with calf cramp

By on 8/23/2014 11:00:00 AM

Though San Francisco Giant outfielder Angel Pagan left last night's game in the ninth inning, it appears that he will not miss much time, if any at all.  Alex Pavlovic is reporting that Pagan left due to an apparent leg cramp.

This news gives relief to the Giants and their fans, as he is a player that they cannot afford to lose again.

The centerfielder has been a key member to the Giants outfield for the last three seasons.  This year he has been limited to just 76 games due to injury.  In his 76 games, Pagan has batted .301 with three home runs and twelve steals.

Gregor Blanco shifted to center to replace Pagan last night.  While Blanco is an above average defender, he cannot match Pagan's skills at the plate.  In his career Blanco is a career .255 hitter with little power. As the Giants continue battling for playoff positioning, it is vital that they are at full strength.
