Indians Injury Update: Ryan Raburn, Jason Giambi

By on 8/23/2014 10:15:00 PM

Ryan Raburn, who was placed on the disabled list retroactive to August 18th is set to begin a rehab assignment. Meanwhile, Jason Giambi, who has been injured since early June is set to rehab next week and is hoping for a September return.

In his 20th big league season, Giambi provides nothing more than a power bat off the bench and a possible option as a designated hitter. Through 15 games this year, Giambi has two home runs with a .128 batting average.

The utility man, Raburn has been a disappointment this season. However, manager Terry Francona, looks forward to the future for Raburn, who has apparently felt pain in his wrist since spring training.

Overall, Raburn has a .191 batting average in 70 games.  He is signed through 2015 with an option for the next season so it is vital for both himself and the Indians that he is able to get back on track soon.
