Jaguars Injury Update: Toby Gerhart day-to-day with hip injury

By on 8/06/2014 07:30:00 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars starting RB Toby Gerhart is now considered day-to-day after sustaining a hip flexor injury during practice this past week.

Florida Times-Union writer Ryan O'Halloran first reported the news via twitter.
Gerhart has apparently been dealing with this injury for some time as he missed practice last week, too.

According to SB Nation, “Jacksonville Jaguars running back Toby Gerhart was held out of practice on Monday with a hip flexor injury. The injury is not believed to be serious, although Gerhart also missed practice on Friday and sat out the team scrimmage on Saturday. Head coach Gus Bradley wants to be cautious with Gerhart: "That [Gerhart not practicing] is more on our part, with his tightness of his hip flexor," Bradley said. "It's more for us, but I know that he said he felt better today than he did the other day."

Gerhart, a former Minnesota Viking, signed a newly-minted, $10.5 million contract with the Jaguars just this past March. In his final season with Minnesota, Gerhart was able to rush for an incredible 7.9 yards per carry average.

I think that Jacksonville could be seeing a better running game with Gerhart at the helm. Besides Gerhart is sophomore RB Jordan Todman who rushed for 256 yards and two touchdowns last season as a part of the Jags. Gerhart’s hip injury doesn’t appear to be serious as he will most likely be back to practice after the Jaguar’s first pre-season game this weekend.
