Jets Injury Update: Antonio Allen out with head injury

By on 8/24/2014 10:15:00 AM

Antonio Allen, defensive back of the New York Jets, exited the third preseason game for the Jets with what was called a head injury. During the game he had been ruled questionable for return, but he never reappeared. With the way the NFL is handling concussions nowadays, it's not a surprise to see the Jets be cautious with Allen.

According to Darryl Slater of The Star-Ledger, the Jets have been "experimenting" Allen at cornerback. He's being used there due to the injuries that have occurred so far to Dee Milliner and Dexter McDougle. Milliner is going to return in the next couple of weeks; the Jets are hopeful by week one, while McDougle is out with a season-ending knee injury.

The Jets are extremely low in depth at the cornerback position now with the injury to Allen. The only other surefire cornerback left is Dimitri Patterson, who has been dealing with a leg injury. The belief with him is that he will certainly be ready for week one though. Even if that's the case, the Jets are still in need of some replenishment at the cornerback position.
