Jets Injury Update: Dee Milliner still questionable for week one

By on 8/26/2014 11:01:00 AM

New York Jets cornerback Dee Milliner is still injured after suffering a high ankle sprain in practice a few weeks ago. It wasn't exactly expected that he would be ready to go at this time, but the Jets are anxiously awaiting his return.

Rich Cimini of ESPN reports that Rex Ryan is not ready to say if Milliner will be available for the opener vs. the Oakland Raiders. Cimini also reports that Milliner hasn't been able to run speed yet, but he has a little more than a week to prove that he can do that.

All signs point to Milliner being able to return by week one or week two, which is very important for the Jets. They've suffered through a plethora of injuries to their secondary group all training camp and preseason. It's time for them to start getting healthy and be able to build some continuity.

They have a daunting schedule this year, having to go up against Aaron Rodgers, Jay Cutler, Matthew Stafford, Philip Rivers, Peyton Manning and Tom Brady consecutively from week two to seven. They're going to need their secondary to be on their A-game if they're going to survive that gauntlet of QB's.

If the Jets secondary fails to live up to the challenge, you know that Jets fans will be in uproar, because we will know very early in the season just if this Jets team will be a contender or a pretender.
