By on 8/21/2014 07:00:00 AM

The Seattle Mariners fell to the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday by the score of 4-3. The loss was the second in three games to the Phillies to drop to 68-58, seven and a half games back in the American League West. The Mariners were without left fielder Dustin Ackley in the starting lineup, due to a stiff back. Chris Denorfia started in place of Ackley and went 1-for-4.

Ryan Divish, who covers the Mariners for the Seattle Times, tweeted the following prior to the game, on Ackley's status.
Ackley appeared as a pinch hitter in the eighth inning for Brandon Maurer and struck out on three pitches against Ken Giles.

Ackley, in his fourth Major League season, is batting .252 with eight home runs and 48 RBI this season. In 471 career games, Ackley is a .247 hitter with 30 home runs and 165 RBI.
