I reported on August 11 that Matsuzaka, who was placed on the disabled list on July 26 with right elbow discomfort, would need one or two more rehab starts before returning to the Mets.

Matsuzaka's best season was in 2009 when he went 18-3 with a 2.90 ERA with the Red Sox. The eight-year Major League veteran has pitched for the Red Sox and Mets and has a career record of 56-43 with a 4.46 ERA.
