Orioles Injury Update: Ubaldo Jimenez to rejoin team after good rehab start

By on 8/04/2014 04:00:00 PM

Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez followed a great first rehab start with an excellent outing for Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday. He allowed one run on five hits and two walks against Buffalo. He threw 94 pitches in his impressive start as reported by David Wilson from

Jimenez will most likely return to the Orioles on Monday while they are in Washington taking on the Nationals. He will then travel with the team on Tuesday to Toronto. He should come off the disabled list sometime during this week, via Dan Connolly.

Manager Buck Showalter said this to David Wilson,
This is the end of what he [and his representation] has agreed to. It was to one more. I'm not saying it was like pulling teeth or anything, but he has that right. He's champing at the bit to get back, you can tell. He wasn't overly enamored with him doing it again, but we are trying to get him up to 100 pitches."
Jimenez was put on the disabled list with a right ankle injury after he stepped in a pothole near his home. At that time, he was 3-8 with a 4.52 ERA allowing an American League high 60 walks.
