Padres Injury Update: Everth Cabrera sits with hamstring cramp

By on 8/10/2014 03:00:00 PM

The San Diego Padres entered Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates with a record of 53-62, third in the National League West. Coming off a 2-1 loss on Saturday, the Padres were without shortstop Everth Cabrera on Sunday due to a hamstring cramp. Cabrera went 1-for-3 with a run scored on Saturday. Alexi Amarista started in place of Cabrera.

Our own Darius Austin reported on July 30 that Cabrera, who was placed on the disabled list at the beginning of July with a left hamstring strain, had been activated. It appears that the hamstring injury has resurfaced.

According to Corey Brock, who covers the Padres for,
Cabrera, in his sixth Major League season, is batting .232 with three home runs, 20 RBI and 18 stolen bases this season. He's a career .248 hitter with 12 home runs, 128 RBI and 136 stolen bases, in 482 games.
