Padres Injury Update: Everth Cabrera headed for MRI

By on 8/12/2014 09:30:00 AM

The San Diego Padres defeated the Colorado Rockies on Monday by the score of 4-3. The win improved the Padres to 55-62 on the season, third in the National League West. Yangervis Solarte and Yonder Alonso each homered in the loss. The Padres were once again without Everth Cabrera, who is out with a hamstring injury. Alexi Amarista started in place of Cabrera and went 0-for-4.

I reported on August 10 that Cabrera, who was placed on the disabled list at the beginning of July with a left hamstring strain, had been activated. But it appeared he re-aggravated the hamstring and was scratched from the lineup.

An updated on Cabrera, as reported by Dennis Lin of, is that he was out of the lineup again Monday and would undergo an MRI either later Monday or Tuesday.  Cabrera said the latest injury was a "ball" in the middle of his hamstring which had enlarged over night.

Cabrera, in his sixth Major League season, is batting .232 with three home runs, 20 RBI and 18 stolen bases this season. He's a career .248 hitter with 12 home runs, 128 RBI and 136 stolen bases, in 482 games.
