Padres Injury Update: Jedd Gyorko day-to-day with hamstring problem

By on 8/23/2014 07:15:00 PM

The San Diego Padres enter tonight's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks with a record of 59-68, third in the National League West. They are coming off a 5-1 loss on Friday and got only four hits off Josh Collmenter, who improved to 9-7 on the season. The Padres will play tonight without the services of second baseman Jedd Gyorko, who is resting due to a nagging hamstring problem.

Dennis Lin, who covers the Padres for U-T San Diego, tweeted the following on Gyorko's status.
With Gyorko out of the lineup, expect Alexi Amarista or Yangervis Solarte to get the start in his place.  Solarte is batting .259 with nine home runs and 44 RBI, whilc Amarista is batting .237 with three home runs and 23 RBI.

Gyorko, in his second season, is batting only .200 with nine home runs and 44 RBI. Last season, Gyorko hit .249 with 23 home runs and 63 RBI.
