Padres Injury Update: Joaquin Benoit unavailable due to shoulder soreness

By on 8/30/2014 05:00:00 PM

The San Diego Padres will once again be playing without their right handed pitcher Joaquin Benoit.  As first reported by Sports Injury Alert on August 18, Benoit has been bothered by a sore right shoulder.

Benoit missed the game on August 17 but was expected to avoid the disabled list.  Today, reporter Corey Brock tweeted that Benoit was once again experiencing shoulder soreness and was expected to be out a few days.
Benoit is in his 13th season of major league baseball and his first with San Diego.  He has a 4-2 record with an impressive 1.58 ERA through 51.1 innings pitched.  The Padres have been plagued with injuries all season which has led to a third place standing in the National League West with a 63-70 record.  They play game two of a weekend series tonight at 8:40 PM against the NL West first place Los Angeles Dodgers (76-59).
