The San Diego Padres enter a series against the Los Angeles Dodgers tonight with a record of 58-65, third in the National League Central. The Padres have remained respectable behind a staff that is 3rd in the Major Leagues in ERA. The staff may see an additional boost next month as rookie pitcher Robbie Erlin has been activated from the disabled list and sent to Triple-A.

Our own Darius Austin reported on August 2 that Erlin started his rehab at Double-A San Diego. He threw 42 pitches in 2 1/3 scoreless innings, allowed three hits with a walk and a strikeout.

An updated on Erlin. according to MLBRosterMoves Twitter account,
Erlin, a 23-year old left-hander, was 3-3 with a 4.12 ERA in 11 games last season. He's appeared in nine games this season, starting eight and is 3-4 with a 4.53 ERA.  Erlin has allowed 51 hits and 11 walks in 47 2/3 innings, while striking out 39.
