Patriots Injury Update: Chris Jones could be sidlined until week 1

New England Patriots defensive tackle Chris Jones will most likely miss the rest of the preseason with a left ankle injury, according to Mike Reiss with ESPN.

The injury occurred in the first half of the Thursday night preseason game against the Washington Redskins, when teammate Marcus Forston rolled into Jones’s leg.

Jones needed assistance to get off the field after the incident, but was able to walk on his own to the locker room. Jones should consider him lucky if his injury turns out to not be serious, as he should undergo tests on his ankle today.

It initially looks like Jones will avoid any long-term aftermath with his injury that would affect deep into the regular season. However, this does put the Patriots in a bind as defensive tackle Sealver Siliga is expected to miss playing time after injuring his hand earlier this week in camp, and it is unclear when he will be able to return as well.

With both Jones and Siliga sidelined for the moment, players like Marcus Forston and Joe Vellano should see more snaps in practice, and more playing time this preseason.
