Pelicans Injury Update:Jrue Holliday is looking healthy

By on 8/20/2014 04:30:00 PM

The New Orleans Pelicans won 34 games in the 2013-2014 season and finished well 28 games behind the eventual NBA Champions San Antonio Spurs. Heading into training camp next month, the Pelicans are looking for a healthy roster, which was not the case most of last season.  Only four players on the Pelicans' roster appeared in at least 70 games and 21 different players suited up for the team. One key injury was to point guard Jrue Holiday who missed over half the season due to a stress fracture. It appears that Holiday is still some time away from playing, several months after season ending surgery.

Holiday last played in a game on January 8 and underwent season ending surgery to repair a stress fracture in his right tibia at the end of February. After several months with very little news on Holliday, I reported in July that he had not yet been cleared for basketball activities.

Nakia Hogan, sportswriter for, tweeted the following update on the Pelicans' injuries.

Holiday is under contract for the next three seasons at an average $10 million per season. In his first season with the Pelicans, he averaged 14.3 points and 7.9 assists in 34 games. In 332 games with the Philadelphia  76ers and Pelicans, Holiday is averaging 13.5 points an six assists per game
