Phillies Injury Update: Domonic Brown out for ninth straight game

By on 8/09/2014 07:00:00 AM

The Phialdelphia Phillies lost to the New York Mets on Friday by the score of 5-4. The loss ended a three-game winning streak and dropped the Phillies to 52-64 on the season, last in the National League East. The Phillies got three hits each from Marlon Byrd and Chase Utley in the loss. The Phillies were without the services of Domonic Brown for the ninth straight game.

I reported on August 3 that Brown was out with a tonsil infection and was scheduled to see a doctor the next day.  Matt Gelb, who covers the Phillies for The Philadelphia Inquirer, tweeted the following on Brown's status.
With Brown out of the lineup, Grady Sizemore has been in left field, with Ben Revere in center and Byrd in right. Sizemore is batting well over .300, Revere has been one of the best hitters in the league since the All-Star break and Byrd has been the Phillies best power hitter. Expect Brown to be the odd man out when he's healthy enough to return.

Brown, in his fifth Major League season, is batting .231 with seven home runs and 50 RBI. He set career highs last season with 27 home runs and 83 RBI., while batting .272. Brown is a career .248 hitter with 46 home runs and 191 RBI.
