Pirates Injury Update: Charlie Morton rehab result

By on 8/29/2014 03:15:00 PM

Charlie Morton looked to work his way back to the Pittsburgh Pirates rotation last night while pitching for the Altoona Curve.  In four innings of work, Morton allowed two runs on four hits and struck out six. He also threw 76 pitches in his outing.  He has not pitched since August 15th due to a hip inflammation injury.
Morton's return to the rotation could be crucial, especially as the Pirates look to catch Milwaukee and St. Louis for the National League Central crown.

This season Morton has a great 3.84 ERA, but he has a 5-12 win loss record.  His biggest issue this year has been control.  He not only has a 3.2 walk per nine inning average, but he also leads the league with 19 hit batters.

He is signed through 2016 and looks to be a member of their rotation for the next few seasons.

As they sit four games back in the Central, Morton's return can make a big difference in their playoff push.
