Pirates Injury Update: Pedro Alvarez, Travis Snider

By on 8/29/2014 07:30:00 AM

Last night, the Pittsburgh Pirates were able to pull out a victory against the Cincinnati Reds while not playing at full strength.  Both Pedro Alvarez and Travis Snider were unable to be in the lineup due to their respective injuries.
Snider missed the game due to a hamstring injury.  He is currently in one of the best seasons of his career with a .262 average, 10 homers, and  32 RBI.

Third baseman Pedro Alvarez was unavailable due to a sprained left foot.  He is in the midst of a down season, after hitting a league-leading 36 home runs last season.  This year he has 18 homers with a .232 batting average.

But while his season has been down, he appears to have come to life as of late, hitting three home runs in the past week, including a multi-home run game in Milwaukee.

For Pittsburgh to win the Central they need everyone on the roster contributing.  With many divisional games left in the final month it will be vital to have these players back and hitting in the heart of the lineup.
