Pirates Injury Update: Starling Marte, Josh Harrison

By on 8/18/2014 11:15:00 AM

The Pittsburgh Pirates fell to the Washington Nationals on Sunday in 11 innings by the score of 6-5. The loss dropped the Pirates to 64-60 on the season, third in the National League Central. The Pirates are still in good position to make a run at the post season with 38 games left, but need better performance from a staff that is 16th in the league in ERA. There was some minor injury concern that came out of the loss, as Josh Harrison and Starling Marte both dinged themselves on slides.

Bill Brink, who covers the Pirates for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, tweeted the following on Harrison and Marte.
Brink also noted that Marte was flexing his left wrist out in center after that awkward sliding catch.

Although both Harrison and Marte appear to be fine, keep an eye out to see if they're in the lineup tonight against the Braves.

Harrison is batting .309 with 10 home runs, 38 RBI  and 17 stolen bases this season, while Marte is batting .266 with six home runs, 40 RBI and 23 stolen bases.
