Pirates Injury Update: Starling Marte activated

By on 8/05/2014 04:00:00 PM

The Pittsburgh Pirates lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday by the score of 3-2. The loss dropped the Pirates to 59-52 on the season, third in the National League Central. At only a game and a half back in the division, the Pirates are well positioned to make a playoff run down the stretch. The team should get an additional boost to the offense, as Starling Marte has been activated from the concussion disabled list.

Our own Darius Austin reported yesterday that Marte played for the Indianapolis Indians and went 1-for-4 in his first game back since suffering a concussion.

An update on Marte, according to MLBRosterMoves Twitter account,
Marte, in his third Major League season, is batting .258 with five home runs and 34 RBI this season. Last year, he batted .280 with 12 home runs, 35 RBI and 41 stolen bases. Marte is a career .270 hitter with 22 home runs, 86 RBI and 74 stolen bases.
