According to Will Brinson of CBSSports.com, Raiders rookie quarterback Derek Carr suffered a concussion and a rib injury during Friday's preseason game against the Detroit. Lions defensive end Larry Webster beat left tackle Jack Cornell, and while tackling Carr, put all of his weight on the rookie QB. The good news is that Carr was playing well leading up to the injury. He was 9/16 with 109 yards and a touchdown. Although Matt Schaub will likely be the starter come week one, it's worth noting that Carr may be competing for an opportunity to play later in the season. The injury may take a toll on Carr's development, but not much. The first year signal-caller may be out a couple weeks. But, as of right now, Schaub's starting spot looks secure.
