Raiders Injury Update: Matt Schaub dealing with sore elbow

By on 8/25/2014 09:58:00 PM

Oakland Raiders quarterback Matt Schaub missed another practice because of a sore throwing elbow. Yahoo! Sports Levi Damien reports that it's not a concern and Schaub is still in line to start their season opener.
Schaub sat out practice again on Monday. There is no timetable for his return.

The injury comes at a bad time for the veteran signal caller. He's been mostly ineffective this preseason and if you couple his performance with the injury, then you might be looking at a golden opportunity for Raiders rookie quarterback Derek Carr.

Carr has been getting first team reps in Schaub's absence, but Raiders coach Dennis Allen says Schaub remains the team's starter.

Plans are to evaluate Schaub daily, who came to the Raiders looking for new life after spending six seasons with the Houston Texans.

The Raiders will open their regular season schedule September 7 on the road against the New York Jets.
