Rams Injury Update: Isaiah Pead suffers non-contact injury

By on 8/16/2014 07:15:00 PM

St. Louis Rams running back Isaiah Pead suffered what appeared to be a serious knee injury on a first-quarter kickoff against the Green Bay Packers this afternoon

Pead appeared to plant his left foot into the turf before dropping to the ground untouched. The Cincinnati Bearcat alumni was carried off the field by trainers. After some treatment on the sideline, Pead was eventually carted to the Rams locker room.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports that Pead will have an MRI done on the knee Monday, but the early indications are not good. Bleacher Report medical columnist Dave Seibert added context to the injury via Twitter.

The third year running back was fourth on the Rams depth chart behind Zac Stacy, Tre Mason and Benny Cunningham. Despite this, he likely would have made the team as a special teamer.

In two seasons in St. Louis, Pead has managed just 17 carries for 75 yards.
