Rams Injury Update: Sam Bradford does not appear to be healthy

By on 8/03/2014 08:45:00 AM

St. Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford was having the best season of his career in 2013, with 1,687 passing yards, 14 touchdowns and just four interceptions along with a completion percentage close to 61 percent over the first seven games. But he suffered a knee injury late in that Week 7 contest against the Carolina Panthers, and missed the rest of the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

There hasn't been much doubt about Bradford's status for Week 1 as he works his way back to full strength, but Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reported on Friday that the former No. 1 overall pick was "still moving a little gingerly at times" during practice.

Bradford was the subject of trade rumors during the offseason, but Rams' head coach Jeff Fisher has denied the team shopped him at all leading up to May's draft. In any case this is a critical season for Bradford, as he enters the final two years of his rookie contract, and trade scenarios may resurface next offseason if he has a disappointing season or plays less than 16 games for the third time in five NFL seasons.

If Bradford does miss significant action again this year, what looks like a promising season for the Rams will go the other direction quickly with Shaun Hill, Austin Davis and rookie Garrett Gilbert behind him on the depth chart right now.

    A stupid assumption.

  2. Someone is trying to poison the well so they can get a very deep sleeper in their FFL.
