Rams Injury Update: Sam Bradford tears ACL, out for season

By on 8/24/2014 10:15:00 PM

If you were to look up the word "snakebitten" in the dictionary, there is a very good chance St. Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford's photo would be nearby. For the second consecutive season, Bradford has torn his anterior cruciate ligament and will miss the remainder of the year.

Bradford injured the knee, the same knee that he suffered a similar injury to last season, in the first quarter of yesterday's win over the Cleveland Browns. Bradford injured the knee after throwing an incomplete pass and early reports called the injury a hyperextension.

That is not the case, however. The fifth-year starter will not return to the Rams this year, placing the team's success offensively square in the hands of Shaun Hill, who has not started an NFL game since 2010.

Head coach Jeff Fisher confirmed the injury at a news conference Sunday, and said the team was keeping Bradford in it's thoughts.

"We're thinking of Sam," Fisher said. "I met with him this morning. He's left the building to spend time with his parents, and I really can't give you any timetable as to when he's going to have this procedure done."
