Rangers Injury Update: Alex Rios has ankle sprain, expected to keep playing

By on 8/12/2014 10:15:00 AM

The dreadful season for the Texas Rangers continued following a 7-0 blowout loss at the hands of the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday. The loss dropped the Rangers to 46-72, last in the American League West. The Rangers managed just three hits and struck out 10 times against four Rays pitchers. The Rangers played without outfielder Alex Rios, who was out with a sprained ankle. The good news is that he's expected to play soon.

I reported yesterday that Rios left Saturday's game in the fourth inning with an ankle injury after going 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored.

Anthony Andro, who covers the Rangers for, tweeted the following update on Rios.
Rios, in his 11th Major League season, is batting .294 with four home runs and 46 RBI this season. The veteran has played for the Blue Jays, White Sox and Rangers and is a career .279 hitter with 165 home runs and 753 RBI.
