Rangers Injury Update: Derek Holland scratched from rehab start with back spasms

By on 8/23/2014 05:00:00 PM

The disastrous season for the Texas Rangers continues to get worse.  Derek Holland, who they had hoped would be one of their top pitchers, has been scratched from his final rehab start with back spasms.

This season has been a nightmare for Holland, who has yet to get on a big league mound and contribute.

When healthy, he is one of the best pitchers on the Rangers staff.  He owns a career record of 49-38 with a 4.36 ERA. He lead the American League in shutouts in 2011 with four and haf his best season last year going 10-9 with a 3.42 ERA in 213 innings.

They entered the season with the highest of expectations, but have not even come close to living up to them.  Though he will not help the Rangers, who have the worst record in baseball, it would be nice for the team to see him on the mound succeeding by season's end.
