Rangers Injury Update: Geovany Soto activated

By on 8/08/2014 05:00:00 PM

The Texas Rangers are 48 games away from ending a nightmarish season. At 45-69, they are 25 games behind the Oakland A's in the American League West. The Rangers are a respectable 14th in the Major Leagues in runs scored, but 29th in ERA. Injuries have taken their toll, as 10 players are currently on the 60-day DL. There is a bit of good news, as catcher Geovany Soto has been activated after being on the DL with a groin strain.

Our own Darius Austin reported on August 2 that Soto, who is recovering from a groin strain, played five innings for Triple-A Round Rock and went 1-for-2. Soto went 6-for-32 with 10 strikeouts in 10 games with Round Rock this season.

MLBRosterMoves Twitter account confirmed the activation of Soto.
Soto, in his 10th Major League season, has played for the Cubs and Rangers. He batted .245 with nine home runs and 22 RBI in 163 at bats last season.  Soto has a career batting average of .248 with 91 home runs and 311 RBI.
