Rangers Injury Update: Jim Adduci exits with possible concussion

By on 8/28/2014 10:20:00 PM

Texas Rangers right fielder Jim Adduci tumbled over second baseman Rougned Odor and slammed his head on the track as the players chased down a foul ball in the fifth inning of Thursday night's game against the Houston Astros (video here and below). Adduci was removed as a precaution and will undergo further observation, according to the Astros' team Twitter. He was replaced by Daniel Robertson.

Adduci, 29, is hitting .177.250/.240 (OPS+ 38)  in 109 PAs as a utility outfielder and first baseman for the Rangers. He missed half of the 2014 season due to surgery on the left pinky finger he fractured in April. He was activated from the DL on July 21. Adduci was drafted by the Florida Marlins in 2003 (42nd round) and made his debut ten years later on September 1, 2013. That makes him still a rookie, pre-arb and under team control through 2019.
