Rays Injury Update: David DeJesus to be activated Monday

By on 8/31/2014 09:30:00 PM

The Tampa Bay Rays veteran outfielder David DeJesus will be activated on Monday, accord to a tweet from the Rays team account.  The Rays, who are currently in third place in the American League East, hope that DeJesus will provide needed offense in their lineup during the last month of the regular season.

As first reported by Darius Austin of Sports Injury Alert, DeJesus was placed on the disabled list with a broken hand suffered on June 18.  He suffered the break on a check swing during his last at-bat of that day’s game. DeJesus has been in the major leagues for 12 years, in both the National and American leagues.  This season he has played in only 62 games, batting .269/.367/.440 with five homeruns and 17 RBIs.

The Rays will play game four against the Red Sox when DeJesus returns on Monday.  The team has gone 4-6 in the last ten games, falling 14 games out of first place in the AL East.  They start September with three series against AL East opponents.
