Rays Injury Update: Desmond Jennings scratched with sore knee

The Tampa Bay Rays dropped to 65-70 on the season following an 8-4 loss to the Boston Red Sox on Friday night. The Red Sox scored all eight runs in the first two innings off Chris Archer, who went four innings and fell to 8-7 on the season. Brandon Guyer led the Rays with a home run and three RBI. The Rays were without center fielder Desmond Jennings due to a sore knee.

As reported by David Adler of, Jennings was scratched from the lineup with left knee soreness just prior to the game.  Jennings was scheduled to lead off. Guyer played left field, took over the lead off spot and went 2-for-4.

Kevin Kiermaier played center field and went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in the nine hole. Matt Joyce, moved from left to right field and went 0-for-4 with a walk.

Desmond, in his fifth Major League season, is batting .244 with 10 home runs and 36 RBI this season.  He had a career-high 14 home runs and 54 RBI last season. Desmond is a career .248 hitter with 47 home runs and 164 RBI.
