By on 8/23/2014 11:15:00 AM

The Tampa Bay Rays defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday behind a 14-hit attack and shutout pitching from Drew Smyly. The win improved the Rays to 63-65, fourth in the American League West. The Rays were without catcher Jose Molina, due to a sore knee. Curt Casali started for Molina and went 2-for-5 with a run scored. The good news is that Molina's injury does not appear serious.

R Mooney, who covers the Rays for The Tampa Tribune, tweeted the following on Molina before Friday's game.
Casali, a 25-year old rookie, is batting .179 with two doubles and two RBI, in 56 at bats this season.

Molina, in his 15th Major League season, is batting .186 with nine RBI in 70 games. The veteran has played for the Cubs, Angels, Yankees, Blue Jays and Rays and is a career .234 hitter with 39 home runs and 222 RBI.
