Red Sox Injury Update: Dustin Pedroia likely out a week with concussion symptoms

By on 8/31/2014 10:00:00 AM

Dustin Pedroia exited last night's game against the Tampa Bay Rays after taking an forearm to the head while attempting to tag out Logan Forsythe.
With the seriousness of head injuries, Pedroia is expected to miss at least a week of time.  Over the past decade players like Corey Koskie and Justin Morneau have missed plenty of time due to head injuries, Kosikie's injury even cost him his career.

Pedroia has become the leader of the Red Sox lineup in Boston, and the heart and soul of the team.  This season is his ninth season with the club and he has become the face of the franchise.  He is not only a three time Gold Glove winner, but over his career he has been one of the biggest run-producing second baseman in the game.

The former MVP and Rookie of the Year has a .280 batting average this season with seven home runs and 51 RBIs.  He is signed through 2021 and will continue to be the face of the franchise for years to come.
