Red Sox Injury Update: Xander Bogaerts cleared to return Saturday

By on 8/28/2014 10:30:00 AM

The Boston Red Sox fell to 58-75 on the season following a 5-2 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday. The Red Sox got two hits from David Ortiz and Dustin Pedroia and one from Brock Holt, but none from the rest of the lineup. Holt has been playing for Xander Bogaerts, who has been out with a concussion. The good news is that Bogaerts has been cleared to return on Saturday.

I reported on August 25 that Bogaerts,  who was hit in the head by a pitch on August 22, was placed on the concussion disabled list.

Pete Abraham, who covers the Red Sox for The Boston Globe, tweeted the following update on Bogaerts.
Bogaerts, in his first full Major League season, is batting .223 with eight home runs and 30 RBI. In 18 games last season, he hit .250 with a homer and five RBI. Bogaerts is a career .225 hitter with nine home runs and 35 RBI
