Rockies Injury Update: Brett Anderson exits with back spasms

By on 8/06/2014 09:15:00 AM

Brett Anderson's injury fortunes don't seem to be improving. The Colorado Rockies left-hander left Tuesday's game in the fourth inning after experiencing back spasms. Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune tweeted that Anderson is considered day-to-day after his exit:

Anderson has already missed most of this season with a fractured middle finger and barely pitched in 2013 because of a broken foot. Most of 2012 was lost because of Tommy John surgery, and the previous two seasons were plagued by elbow issues before he even had that surgery.

Franklin Morales replaced Anderson in the fourth and pitched the next three innings. It turned out to be a terrible night for the Rockies to have a starter leave early, as they went twelve innings, the game only being settled when elite Cubs prospect Javier Baez blasted a home run in his first major league game. Colorado used nine pitchers in all to cover the twelve innings, including 42 pitches out of Morales and 36 from Adam Ottavino.
