Rockies Injury Update: Michael Cuddyer activated

By on 8/16/2014 08:30:00 PM

In a season that has been plagued with injury, the Colorado Rockies finally got some positive news today as Michael Cuddyer has been activated from the 60-day disabled list and is in the lineup against the Cincinnati Reds tonight.

Cuddyer returns to a lineup that looks nowhere close to how it looks when he last played. Both Troy Tulowitzki and Carlos Gonzalez are finished for the season and new faces are looking to prove themselves.

Since becoming a Rockie, Cuddyer has been an impact player each season. Last season, he won the NL batting title by batting .331. Although he has only played in 31 games this season, he continued to show a hot bat by batting .317 with 15 home runs.

Although the Rockies are out of the race in the NL West, his play through the final month and a half of the season is sure to effect his upcoming free-agent status. Through these final games, the 35-year-old  Cuddyer will need to prove that he is not only healthy, but that he can still be the run producer he has proven to be throughout his career.
