Rockies Injury Update: Michael Cuddyer. Christian Bergman, Wilin Rosario

By on 8/25/2014 03:45:00 PM

The Colorado Rockies made roster moves over the weekend concerning outfielder Michael Cuddyer and pitcher Christian Bergman.  Catcher Wilin Rosario was unable to play this weekend but he has not been placed on the disabled list.  Rosario hopes to avoid the disabled list.

Cuddyer, who could possibly be playing in his last season, has been plagued with injuries this year.  He has only played in 34 games because of his injuries, batting .331 with six home runs and 19 RBIs.  The outfielder was placed on the 15-day DL with a left hamstring injury partly out of necessity because the Rockies needed the roster spot open for Bergman, according to the Denver Post.  Cuddyer thought he would be able to avoid the DL, telling the Denver Post, “Unfortunately, I’m the one sacrificed for the roster spot.”  The earliest he will be eligible to play on September 8.

Bergman started Sunday against the Miami Marlins after missing 51 games after breaking his hand in a game on June 25.  Bergman earned his first major league win after going 6 1/3 innings, giving up nine hits and four earned wins.

Rosario, who was first injured on August 20, is still struggling with left wrist soreness which made him unable to play this past weekend.  He told the Denver Post that he hopes to be in the lineup for the game against the San Francisco Giants tonight.

The Rockies are struggling this year, with a 52-77 record, placing them 5th in the NL West.  They play the NL West 2nd place team tonight at 10:15 PM.
