Royals Injury Update: Eric Hosmer, Omar Infante

By on 8/31/2014 10:45:00 PM

The injuries that have left the Kansas City Royals without first baseman Eric Hosmer or second baseman Omar Infante appear to both be healing.  Hosmer started in his first rehab assignment on Saturday and Infante returned to the Royals lineup Saturday after missing four games.

First baseman Eric Hosmer started in his first baseball game on Saturday since a stress fracture in his right hand sidelined him for all of August.  Hosmer had two hits, including two RBIs in the minor league rehab start with Triple-A Omaha, according to Igor Mello of  Hosmer is batting .267/.312/.377 with six homers and 46 RBIs in 104 games this season.
Second Baseman Omar Infante returned to the Royals lineup on Saturday afternoon after missing four days with a sore right shoulder.  According to Andy McCullough of the Kansas City Star, Infante is not at 100% but he does not expect it to be a problem going into the last month of the regular season.  Infante is playing in his thirteenth year of major league baseball, hoping that he is able to contribute to the post season push with the first place AL central Royals.  He is batting .256/.295/.353 this season with six homeruns and 59 RBIs in 108 games.
