By on 8/15/2014 11:00:00 AM

The Kansas City Royals improved to 66-54 following a 7-3 victory over the Oakland A's on Thursday night. A five-run seventh inning propelled the Royals to victory. Christian Colon lead the attack with three hits, while Erik Kratz and Billy Butler each added two hits. On the injury front, the Royals will be without Eric Hosmer for the foreseeable future, as he will not be able to swing a bat for at least another week.

It was reported yesterday that Hosmer, who has been out with a stress fracture in his right hand, would undergo an X-ray and hoped to swing a bat shortly thereafter.

Andy McCullough, who covers the Royals for The Kansas City Star, tweeted the following update on Hosmer.
In Hosmer's absence, expect Billy Butler and 42-year old veteran Raul Ibanez to get the majority of the playing time at first base

Hosmer, in his fourth Major League season, is batting .267 with six home runs and 46 RBI. He hit a career high .302 last season with 17 home runs and 79 RBI. Hosmer is a career .275 hitter with 110 doubles, 56 home runs and 263 RBI in 543 games.
