Royals Injury Update: Omar Infante out with sore shoulder

By on 8/28/2014 05:30:00 PM

Royals second baseman Omar Infante will not be available for the third straight game as the AL Central leaders attempt to sweep the Minnesota Twins and extend their four-game winning streak. Manager Ned Yost said Infante has been dealing with an inflammed shoulder for "two or three weeks," according to Dick Kaegel of MLB.com.

Infante, 32, had started every one of the Royals' 130 games before this injury, posting a line of .255/.292/.353 (OPS+ 78) with six homers and 59 RBI. Although his offense is subpar, he has provided above average defensive and baserunning skills, according to Fangraphs. Infante's replacement at second base is rookie Christian Colon.
