Royals Injury Update: Yordano Ventura to miss start with back stiffness

By on 8/26/2014 08:00:00 PM

Blair Kerkhoff is reporting that Kansas City Royals young pitcher Yordano Ventura will miss tomorrow's start.
It appears that the team is being extra cautious with the 23-year-old Ventura who has never pitched over 150 innings in his minor league career.  He is not only a key to this season's end of season success, but also the future in Kansas City.  With his free and easy delivery, Ventura has the ability to pump fastballs in the upper 90s.

In his first full big leagues season, he has lived up to high expectations. While his walk rate could be improved he is able to get strikeouts with ease.  Through 24 starts, Ventura has a 3.40 ERA and a 10-9 record.

In his place, Liam Hendriks will get the nod to start tomorrow.  He has three starts with the Toronto Blue Jays this season, but has yet to pitch in Kansas City.  He is 1-0 in these starts, but has allowed nine runs in just 13.1 innings.
