Saints Injury Update: New Orleans cuts Champ Bailey

By on 8/31/2014 10:15:00 AM

The New Orleans Saints cut Champ Bailey yesterday. He was one of the final cuts on the day. Bailey had been plagued by an injury during camp and wasn't his full self. The injury part was most likely what led to him being cut, not the money aspect- it saved New Orleans one million dollars to cut him.

Gregg Rosenthal of reports that Bailey's agent, Jack Reale, told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network that Bailey isn't done playing just yet.

When asked if Bailey still wanted to play Reale said."Definitely, and he is fully healthy now. He had a plantar problem."

There seems to be interest in Bailey around the league still. He could easily get a look from the New York Jets or Baltimore Ravens. For the Jets, he could easily go into week one as the number two cornerback. It may come down to playing time and a chance to win. In New York there's a chance to play a lot. In Baltimore there's a chance to play a fair amount and seriously contend.

It'll be very interesting to see Bailey's choice. You would thing a guy like him would go for the ring at this point of his career, but who knows. Either way, we're coming into the last stage of an illustrious career.

Twelve Pro Bowls later, and there's just one thing missing: A Super Bowl ring. Let's see if he goes after it, or if he calls it quits.
