Texans Injury Update: Jadeveon Clowney carted off field

By on 8/02/2014 03:00:00 PM

Houston Texans fans held their collective breath this morning after a report from Brian T. Smith of the Houston Chronicle stated rookie defensive end Jadeveon Clowney was carted off the practice field.

Clowney practice for roughly two hours this morning before heading to the trainer's table. He stayed there, receiving ice on his right leg, until leaving on a cart. Head coach Bill O'Brien said it's nothing serious.

“We’re just trying to manage him,” O’Brien said. “He’s coming off of surgery and we’re just trying to manage him. He’s out there and he wants to go every rep.”

James Palmer, the Texans' beat reporter for Comcast Sportsnet Houston, confirmed O'Brien's statements with a tweet.

Clowney underwent surgery for a sports hernia earlier this offseason after the Texans selected him first overall in the 2014 NFL Draft.

Despite the lack of an actual injury, Clowney will likely continue to be limited in training camp to ensure he is ready for the regular season.
