Tigers Injury Update: Torii Hunter still out but improving

By on 8/07/2014 01:00:00 PM

The Detroit Tigers lost to the New York Yankees on Wednesday by the score of 5-1. Even with the loss, the Tigers are 62-49, three and a half games ahead of the Kansas City Royals in the American League Central. The Tigers were again without the services of veteran outfielder Torii Hunter, who is out with a bruised left hand.

Our own Raymond Bureau reported on August 5 that Hunter exited in the top of the ninth after getting hit on the left hand with a pitch from the Yankees' reliever Dellin Betances. X-rays following the game were negative.

Chris Iott, who covers the Tigers for, tweeted the following update on Hunter.
Hunter, in his 18th Major League season, is batting .271 with 15 home runs and 62 RBI this season. He has played for the Twins, Angels and Tigers and is a career .278 hitter with 329 home runs, 1,289 RBI and 2,267 hits.
